W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Pisces
Listening To: Seascape by Toshikazu Sugama

My boyfriend just left to go to Rhode Island for college. Despite the suggestions, we decided to endure our new long-distance relationship. It was all bittersweet.

On a side note, I need a new layout. >_>;;

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Naminé
Listening To: Nothing

Well, here's a sneak peek at the W.I.P. of my Naminé piece. Naminé is a character in Kingdom Hearts who is known as the "Memory Witch" for her ability to manipulate the memories of Sora and those around him...
... At least, I think that's right.
Truthfully, I didn't get to finish Kingdom Hearts II because my little brother returned the game back to his friend. I don't have the time to play video games anymore. I wish I did so I can at least finish Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I have to admit... I'm a little stressed and I have... a brand new cold! @_@;
I have three days left to finish around four-five pieces for Otakon before Jieyi and I head off to Staples to print them. Luckily for me, Amazon delivered my brand new Canon CanoScan 4400F at my door yesterday. So at least, now I'll be able to scan my watercolors to the digital world.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Mukuro x Chrome 6996
Listening To: Nothing

This KHR (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) fanart is really getting to me. I don't know why but I grew to detest each and every day I work on it. It's coming along all right. For some reason, it attacks more nerves than it has to.
I'm planning to go to Otakon 2008 in August so I hope people will buy artwork... so I can at least repay the money received for the trip and get some profit as well. Tch, expenses....

On a side note, I've turned into an Asian drama fan. I've been watching popular romance comedies like Fated To Love You, Sweet Relationship, Waterboys, Azumi 2...etc. Unfortunately, I think I'm using my time too unwisely. Thanks to procrastination, dramas and Otakon, my usual sleeping time follows around 3-4 AM and even though it's summer vacation, that's not particularly good, now is it?

I give many personal thanks to Takashi Murakami. I think I understand myself a little better.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Thursday
Listening To: Nothing

I got into Pratt Institute, a private art institute for college but I had to reject their acceptance letter because of the lack of financial aid I have. While my mother makes a nice income, the fact is that it's used for other things in the house (that I'm unaware of). Either way, I'm not able to go. Cooper Union rejected me but they accepted two friends of mine. I'm extremely happy for them because they both share a unique mind.

There's going to be an art show at my high school next week so I hope that many will attend.... Sadly, it seems like no one is interested in the show. The fine arts seems to be a dejected department and no one really wants to go. It's a little saddening because the performing arts department is quite popular in our school, so I don't understand why fine arts should be any less popular. Maybe people don't find the fine arts necessarily entertaining....

I hope things go well. Because we're sure putting a lot of fucking work for it. I seriously hope it doesn't go to waste.

Listening To: Utada Hikaru - Flavor of Life [ download ]

I don't think that there has ever been a time in my life when I sent so much mail.
After finishing my Cooper Union Home Test, I feel a little relieved. The load is off my shoulders and I can finally set my eyes on... other issues. I still have to send my portfolio to Pratt by this Monday. If I don't, they won't even consider looking through it.

The drama fairy stopped stalking me but sometimes, she spreads her dust. I realize that all my drama problems involve a guy. After noticing that, I feel kind of silly.
There's this person that I wanted to befriend but I think we both have some misunderstandings. I think he thinks I like him, despite the fact I have a boyfriend. Through mixed signals, He doesn't seem to have the greatest friends and he seems to be two-faced. I heard he's nice and yet he calls me a "show-off." I'm almost ready to ignore him but it's a little bit hard because we have similar classes with one another.

Men are so frustrating some times.

Listening To: Utada Hikaru - Flavor of Life [ download ]

I haven't updated in a while. Time goes by so fast.

I've been trying to pull out artwork for the Cooper Union hometest. Out of 1,200 applicants, only 65 will be accepted. Plus, if you get accepted, you earn a four-year scholarship. It's all for free!
But, I'm so scared.
I love art but this hometest is really stressing me. I've figured out the majority of my concepts for the hometest but... executing them is a whole different challenge. On one hand, I've been occupying myself with manga-turned-dramas such as Hana Kimi and Hana Yori Dango. I preferred the Hana Yori Dango (drama) over the Hana Kimi (drama). I should really focus on my hometest.... ~___~;
The song I'm listening to (Utada Hikaru's Flavor of Life) is one of the songs from the Hana Yori Dango drama.

Now, back to work.

Listening To: Classmates' voices

It amazes me that I haven't updated in a while. Things are kinda hectic at school. Seniors in my year are getting in a frenzy because of the Scholastic Arts and Writing contest. I entered my portfolio in so... hopefully, I'll get something.

Two more days 'til our "vacation"... technically it's a week for Regents tests but for those who have none, it's a full pure week of no homework.
Besides, a new semester starts after the break. College is getting closer.

Well, a few quick notes about the winter vacation before I sprint off to school:

1. It is already 2008 and I am late on my first return again.
2. Being 17 doesn't seem to change anything.
3. I still don't understand why students couldn't take the extra three days off and then come back on Monday.
4. Skip Beat! is addicting and I want Kyoko and Ren to kiss soon. A head-on-lap is not good enough Yoshiki Nakamura!
5. Lastly, I want to sleep. Sleep is really good.

Ciao.

Holy crap... it's the twenty-first already?! Blargh!
Today is my little brother's birthday. He turned eleven today and will continue to be the free delinquent he is.

Yesterday was very fun but tiring. My boyfriend and I went to Elizabeth Center, a "hidden" place filled with Japanese products revolving around Sanrio, San-X or anime. I bought two rings that I proudly wear on my left hand! Truthfully, I never have the chance to go out and buy stuff so this really makes me happy. So, my first date is a success.

Happy Holidays to all!

... Hopefully, I can finish my portfolio.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Nothing
Listening To: Michael Bublé - Everything [ download ]

I recently finished reading Hana-Kimi or for the longer version, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. Translation? For You In Full Blossoms. I don't understand how people remember such a long title. (Ex. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge...etc.) After reading 145 chapters of it, in my opinion... the series was all right. My favorite character in the book was Dr. Umeda. Mizuki was your average shoujo heroine but she was still adorable. I just don't find it realistic to travel all the way from America to Japan just for a famous athlete... but then again, if they took that away, there goes the plot as well.

"Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has transferred to a high school in Japan...but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she's going to an all-guys' high school...and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they're more than classmates...they're roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates--and the school nurse--must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation...." - Viz

For other news, I don't think I'll be able to take photos anymore. My grandma accidentally tossed my jacket in the laundry machine along with my first (and hand-me-down) digital camera. The batteries are dead and I don't have a new pair. So, I'm not really sure if my camera survived or not. My friends find no hope in its survival. Ahh... poor camera.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): Ephemeral
Listening To: Nothing

There was snow a while ago on Sunday. I was, surprisingly, not surprised. I really miss my younger days when the snow would probably be up to your ankles and you can at least make snowmen and have snowball fights. But no, that's as little as it gets. There was practically nothing to shovel and nothing to play with. I do remember that I flung a few snowballs at my younger brother (who vowed revenge) that day. Unlike my brother, my dog loves snow. My older sister took it out for a walk and it ate every piece along the way.

It's due today and I started and finished around two hours ago. I'm such a procrastinator. It kills me so bad.

I'm definitely going to work on it more. I'm not really satisfied on how it's looking right now but I'll improve it for my portfolio. The project was to use a theme--a word and make an art piece out of it without having to use the word itself. The word I chose from the (short) list was 'ephemeral'.

We're presenting it today. A lot of people I talked to used the word 'midnight' from the list and others don't really seem so enthusiastic with the project. I don't think I have been performing as well as I'd like to. My priorities are a tad screwy right now. But, like I said, I'll work on it later.

Truthfully, it reminds me of the fairytale, The Little Mermaid because by the end of the book, she died and turned to foam.

This piece was made on wood using watercolor inks and oil pastels. I think it's around... 5 ft or so? It's something like that.

Crap, I'm gonna be late for class. D:

The art room has been very messy lately and a couple of students, my teacher and I decided to participate in the cleaning. As any great scavanger, I found a great, old, broken cuckoo clock. Now, what the hell is this about? Well, I really, really wanted the chain under that damn thing. It was pretty dusty but it glittered with a golden hue with tiny links that were even smaller than a string of beads. The clock didn't matter much to my teacher until my friend Andrew helped me uncover the little box of gears inside it. After a couple of threats to fail us, my teacher had the cuckoo clock in his hands. Then, a tug-o-war between us ensued. He gave me credit for trying (that cocky bastard) and promised to buy me a new chain. Stubborn as I am, I didn't give in so quickly. My friend Andrew and I tried a couple of attempts to retrieve it but we failed. Our teacher warned us to "stop trying to steal his shit." I told him that he "stole my shit first."

My cursing didn't get me in trouble but it sure surprised him. The expression was priceless. Now, don't get me wrong... my mouth is... pretty decently clean most of the time... and I'm definitely not the type to abruptly utter bad words in front of him.
I'm just glad that he was cool with it.

In the end, I lost my chain... and my gears....

*sigh*

Listening To: Clannad - Dango Daizazoku [ download ]

If you're a great fan of cute Japanese things, then please watch the ending theme of Clannad. The song is called Dango Daizazoku which means a big dango family. Now, what are dango? According to Wikipedia, dango are sweet Japanese dumplings made out of mochiko (rice flour). I bought one cold at a small Japanese store in the city but I didn't really like it. I might try it again. Who knows how my taste buds blossomed....

Anyway, please watch the video. It is extremely cute. You'll probably never look at dango the same way again--if anything, they'll be even cuter.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress): A whole lot of crap
Listening To: Skywards [ download ]

No matter how many times I try...

... I can never remember what chapter I'm up to in Nodame Cantabile! It's a romance manga by Tomoko Ninomiya that focuses on music and the musicians at college, specifically Shinichi Chiaki. Although the art style isn't my "cup of tea" the characters and the story help keep me going. I do envy all those instruments she draws. Drawing instruments are really hard....

"The son of a famous pianist, music student Shinichi Chiaki dreams of studying abroad and becoming a conductor like his mentor. Unfortunately, his fear of flying grounds his lofty plans! As he watches other classmates achieve what he has always wanted, Shinichi wonders if he should quit music altogether.
Then one day he meets fellow student Megumi Noda, also known as Nodame. This oddball girl cannot cook, clean, or even read a music score, but she can play the piano in incomparable Cantabile style. And she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten: to enjoy his music, no matter where he is."
- Del Ray

I read from another website that there is also a live-action for it. I might watch it. (The) thing is, I really hate watching videos on my computer. While I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to watch dozens of videos posted at youtube, I can't help but be overcome by sloth. The last video I watched on youtube was the Honey and Clover live-action movie. I got very disappointed when I couldn't find the scanlations for it anymore. Nevertheless, I'm happy that I can read it in Shojo Beat.

Meh...
I'll get to it all eventually.
